Happy 50th Birthday my Motherland Kenya!

How does it feel to be 50 years old?
I'm sure you are happy even if it's just cos of age,
I'm not the best placed to write to you, at my age,
I'm slightly above half your age, too young to speak,
I'll write to you anyway for who else will do it?
They tell me my day is tomorrow but I doubt their today,
Happy 50th Birthday my Motherland Kenya!

Your body and heart's eyes carry all the history within,
Your fearless and courageous sons you clearly remember,
Them whose blood was shed in the freedom struggle,
Neither jail nor gunshots could stop their course,
The course within which you were painfully born,
I wasn't there but the old man whose name I've got tells me,
Happy 50th Birthday my Motherland Kenya!

And the days of your weaning you remember very well,
Some genuinely doing it, others cunningly doing it too,
The not fully baked cake reducing in size every single night,
Till you gave birth to the 2nd liberation sons and daughters,
A new battle had began between wenye nchi and wananchi,
The seeds of hatred and stereotypes easily grew in this battlefield,
Happy 50th Birthday my Motherland Kenya!

The greedy children's hunger has hardly been satisfied,
More seeds of hate and stereotypes they've daily scattered to blind,
Among the poor and helpless they've put the divisive fire on,
Preaching water and getting drunk with wine is their the routine,
Frustrations and chaos of poverty, crime and insecurity on the rise,
Tribalism, nepotism, corruption getting more rooted, I sigh!
Happy 50th Birthday my Motherland Kenya!

Good news is that at 50 there are those who rejoice in you,
The faithful children whose hard work has kept you alive to date,
Their devotion and hope for a better tomorrow has inspired many,
Their tireless toil has given you the beautiful side of the coin,
Even though they are not many their light has not stopped glowing,
From their sweat and tiny love baskets they have cared for the poor,
Happy 50th Birthday my Motherland Kenya!

I know my words are heavy on your ears motherland,
I know they make you feel like you are already a 100 years old,
I now know why you will have few birthday cards,
Where is your hope oh Kenya? Where is the light?
Will you awaken all your children once more?
Will you raise more of a loving and a caring generation,
Happy 50th Birthday my Motherland Kenya!

I believe at this age you really need more hope for all,
I believe you need more healing and reconciliation for all,
I believe you need more justice and truth for all,
I believe you need more patriotic, caring and loving children,
I pray that you will consider me as you raise a new generation,
I pray that all those you will raise will not watch as evil prevails,
Happy 50th Birthday my Motherland Kenya!

Before the hangman pulls the rope...

In large crowds we rallied tirelessly,
With unquenchable cheers of jubilation,
Corded with them we sang and danced,
Enjoying the blink warmth of their dirty monies,
Hating and insulting each other all for their sake,
In the exercise of democracy we wore the rope,
On our necks the knotted rope we eagerly placed,
Yes! we the innocent voters are to blame!

Oh yes It us who did it again,
It is us who made the decisions again,
It is us who are to blame for it again,
It is us who had the real power again,
It us who held the swords in our own arms,
In the exercise of democracy we wore the rope,
On our necks the knotted rope we eagerly placed,
Yes! we the innocent voters are to blame!

It is us who are mourning and suffering now,
It us who are fighting and complaining now,
It is us who are gathering and rioting now,
It us who are powerless and helpless again,
It us to whom the sharp sword is pointing,
In the exercise of democracy we wore the rope,
On our necks the knotted rope we eagerly placed,
Yes! we the innocent voters are to blame!

It is them  whom we choose the other day,
It is them whom we praised the other day,
It is them whose people we were the other day,
It is them who represent our society of today,
It is them our image on the life's mirror today,
In the exercise of democracy we wore the rope,
On our necks the knotted rope they are pulling tight,
Yes! we the innocent voters are to blame!

Shall we fire them and move on with life?
Shall we protest and regulate their visible greed?
Shall we go back and get fresh ones on board?
Shall we befriend them and eat their cake crumbs?
Shall we do away with all political leadership?
In the exercise of democracy we wore the rope,
On our necks the knotted rope they are pulling tight,
Yes! we the innocent voters are to blame!

Is there any hope for us the common men?
Is there any hope for us the nation's majority?
Is there hope for the suffering children of our mother?
Is this the end of hope or just the beginning?
Is this the way it will always be every single time?
In the exercise of democracy we wore the rope,
On our necks the knotted rope they are pulling tight,
Yes! we the innocent voters are to blame!

The wind of change has to blow in its urgency,
Beginning from within everyone to their families,
Spreading from every single family to every village,
Sweeping across all villages to the entire nation,
Change! Only change will change things,
Through the same democracy we can cut this rope,
Off our necks the knotted rope we can abandon,
Yes! we the innocent voters are to salvage!

Us who are counted as elites must be elites in deed,
Us who still believe must put such faith into action,
Us who understand and share the pain must swiftly act,
Us who can read and understand this must start now,
Only with clean fingers we can actively point out the dirt,
Through the same democracy we can cut this rope,
Off our necks the knotted rope we can abandon,
Yes! we the innocent voters are to salvage!

Be a good steward...

Within us lives the life's big assignment,
On our shoulders rests the great mission,
On us who are living this hour,
On us who are the learned of the day,
On us whom suffering has left it's marks,
On us with knowledge and understanding,
On us who are privileged to lead the rest,
Not without responsibility have we received,
Not till we account for every possession;
Shall we be content with our life's toil.

Within us lives the life's big assignment,
On our shoulders rests the great mission,
On us who have lived a little longer,
On us whose eyes can still see,
On us whose faith still shines the light,
On us whose ears can still hear,
On us whose hearts can still love,
Not without responsibility have we received,
Not till we account for every possession;
Shall we be content with our life's toil.

Within us lives the life's big assignment,
On our shoulders rests the great mission,
To preserve the creation for those of the future,
To use our life lessons to light the dark world,
To encourage those who are facing hardships,
To ease others burdens with fruits of our knowledge,
To lead in justice and righteousness for all,
Not without responsibility have we received,
Not till we account for every possession;
Shall we be content with our life's toil.

Within us lives the life's big assignment,
On our shoulders rests the great mission,
To mentor, train and guide our youth,
To walk the blind along the dark paths of life,
To let the faith's light in us light the entire world,
To communicate His message of hope to the people,
To show love, care and compassion to the world
Not without responsibility have we received,
Not till we account for every possession;
Shall we be content with our life's toil.

Every small thing becomes big

Even the smallest of good,
Do not withhold;
Open minds understand, open arms help,
Open mouths speak, open ears listen,
Willing legs walk, in empathy though feeble,
Open eyes see, open hearts are moved,
Loving souls believe and share hope,
Connected spirits bear the Spirit's fruit,
To an utterly dry and thirsty people,
To a tearful world mourning in pain,
To souls anguishing in hopelessness,
To bodies worn out and helpless,
To hearts empty of peace,
To spirits yearning for direction,
At the depth of nothingness,
Every small thing becomes big,

Even the smallest of good,
Do not withhold,
A simple touch, a genuine smile,
A faithful prayer, a kind word in love,
A small deed in kindness, an honest compliment,
A small act of care and compassion,
A cheerfully given gift in it's tininess,
A simple act of appreciation and acceptance,
To an utterly dry and thirsty people,
To a tearful world mourning in pain,
To souls anguishing in hopelessness,
To bodies worn out and helpless,
To hearts empty of peace,
Spirits yearning for direction,
at the depth of nothingness,
Every small thing becomes big.

Please be willing to show compassion however little it may be, however small the way you do it withhold it not.

Mama Africa's Cry has reached the Almighty.

I will blow the whistle loud enough,
I will gather all my siblings together,
I will gather them from all corners that there is,
I will not leave even one behind,
I will gather the daughters and the sons,
In front of Mama Africa's eyes I will rally them all,
I will show them Mama's tears in broad day light.

The tears of her sorrow and the deep pain,
The tears of her past and present wounds,
The tears of her innocent children's crying blood,
The tears of her poor children's oppression,
The tears of her longtime unheard cry,
In front of Mama Africa's eyes I will rally them all,
I will show them Mama's tears in broad day light.

The tears that flow like a river in depth and width,
The tears whose groans cry loud and clear to all ears,
The tears that reflect our true image on their face,
The tears that will move our cold uncharged hearts,
The tears that will draws compassion tears from us,
In front of Mama Africa's eyes I will rally them all,
I will show them Mama's tears in broad day light.

The tears will tell the true story and history,
The tears like a mirror will reflect all the characters in us,
The tears will remind us we are all one by birth and in blood,
The tears will make the siblings repent of their sins,
The tears will unchain hearts and hands into action,
In front of Mama Africa's eyes I will rally them,
I will show them Mama's tears in broad day light.

In front of the tears we will know it all,
In front of the tears we will forgive and be forgiven,
In front of the tears we will be reconciled again,
In front of the tears we will all learn the lesson,
In front of the tears we will be renewed by and in love,
In front of Mama Africa's eyes I will rally them,
I will show them Mama's tears in broad day light.

Indeed Mama's tears are calling in deep pain,
Indeed Mama' Africa's cry has reached the Almighty,
Indeed Mama's tears can no longer be ignored,
May we all in true love rally before the tears and start a new,
Mama's tears will only be wiped by love truth and justice,
In front of Mama Africa's eyes I will rally them,
I will show them Mama's tears in broad day light.

"Our Africa's story will not change by being written by different writers but till we change the nature and life of the characters in the story the authors will continue writing the same script only in different ways." Newton JG.

Africa is my homeland and I believe and know the cry for justice, truth and love is sincere and urgent. The Almighty God has heard her cry and he is raising a people who will in His love show his love and compassion to the many who are physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially tormented day by day by the evils within and without her boundaries. A people who will love the oppressed with their hearts, and with their actions. It is time to wipe Mama Africa's tears.

The Scripture says in 1 John 4:7-11"The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."

The Heavenly Kiss and the Comforter.

The awesome heavenly Promise,
The Promise from the King of all days,
Come and have me Counselor,
Come guide and lead me fully,
I give all of myself to you,
Come Holy Spirit of God.

Into the forest of my being come,
Shed your light into my inside,
Light inside my dark heart,
Light inside my dark soul,
I give all of myself to you
Come Holy Spirit of God.

Into my human frailty come,
Let your cleansing power work on me,
Set me apart from my falseness,
Sanctify me with your power,
I give all of myself to you
Come Holy Spirit of God.

Into this fallen world come,
Let your guiding power lead me,
From my inner being lead me,
Even to the outside life with truth,
I give all of myself to you,
Come Holy Spirit of God.

Into my anxieties and fears come,
To my disappointments and disillusions,
Come and comfort my weary soul,
Grow me and let hope glow in me,
I give all of myself to you
Come Holy Spirit of God.

Right into my hard nature come,
Come and till this life's land within,
Come and sow the right seeds in my heart,
Come and make me fruitful of You,
I give all of myself to you
Come Holy Spirit of God.

Come into my being and equip me,
With your great gifts I humbly invite,
Only you know what suits me best,
Grant me that I may edify Christ's body,
I give all of myself to you,
Come Holy Spirit of God.

Come into me and rekindle the hope,
Come daily through the indestructible hope,
Come renew a right spirit within me,
Come refresh me with your divinity,
I give all of myself to you
Come Holy Spirit of God.

Note;
We all need the Holy Spirit of God in our journey of faith,i have been learning about the Holy Spirit and his works in our lives and it has been a transforming experience. I read one article that had highlighted some seven major roles of the Holy Spirit as follows;convict us, sanctify us, comfort us, guide us, make us fruitful, grant us gifts and renew us; and it is from it I wrote the prayer above.
I hope the Holy Spirit of God will guide you through it and also in life.

Maombi aka Prayer.

Prayer
Like breathing supply oxygen to the body;
So does prayer enhance the soul,
Prayer;
Like fuel sustains the car’ engine’s operation;
so does prayer maintain the heart's peace,
Prayer;
As the water quenches the body's thirst;
so does prayer soothe the soul's longings,
Prayer;
As the waters of the ocean floats a ship,
So does prayer sustain a believer in their faith,
Prayer;
As a right key guarantees entry into an armory;
so does prayer usher us into God's spiritual blessings,
Prayer;
Like the sun's heat melts ice into water;
so does prayer melt fears and worries into hope,
Prayer,
Like the ocean current determines the sailor’s direction;
so does prayer determine the direction of the spiritual life,
Prayer,
Like blood gives life to the physical body;
so does prayer give life to our spiritual being,
Prayer,
Like a hot fire flame purifies gold;
so does a prayer of repentance purify our hearts,
Prayer,
As the duck's wings draw the ducklings to herself;
so does prayer draw us close to our Lord,
Prayer,
Like the darkness departs in the dawn of light;
so do sorrows flee when the righteous pray,
Prayer,
Like the good diet gives good health to the body;
so does the fervent prayer of a righteous man avail much.

I can hear the voices of our African freedom fighters!

Where are you, who I bore in pain?
Where are you, who I bore in distress?
Where are you, who for years I fought for?
Where are you, for whom I gave up my all to bring up?
Where are you my daughters and sons,
Will you defend me and your siblings?

For in true love for you I fought the war,
For in true love for you I shed my blood,
For in true love for you I was put into chains,
For in true love for you I was put to death,
Where are you my daughters and sons,
Will you defend me and your siblings?

I had an option to fear and give up,
I had a choice to have you a slave forever in support of the enemy,
I had an option to put on a blind eye to you and your future,
But I chose to suffer in chains that you would be free,
Where are you my daughters and sons,
Will you defend me and your siblings?

I gave my all and fought for you,
I gave my all and suffered for you,
I gave my all and died for you,
I gave my all to you and for you all I did it all,
Where are you my daughters and sons,
Will you defend me and your siblings?

Yet why do I still hear more cries my children?
What happened to the unity and peace I left with you?
What became of the blood earned wealth I left behind?
I loved you and your siblings equally?
Where are you my daughters and sons,
Will you defend me and your siblings?

I can still hear the cry of the oppressed children of mine,
I can still hear the cry of the poor among my children,
I can still hear the cry of the orphans and the widows,
I'm tired of seeing more blood spilled on the soil I left to you,
Where are you my daughters and sons,
Will you defend me and your siblings?

I know your first siblings ate a lot!
I know they overwhelmingly took the cake I left,
I know you cannot get it out of their stomachs and so couldn't I,
But I know there is enough dough to bake enough cake for everyone's need,
Where are you my daughters and sons,
Will you defend me and your siblings?

I have always and will always want the best for you all,
I have and will always be pained to see you fight one another,
I have always longed to see you united in heart, mind, soul and strength,
I have always hated seeing you divided as tribes rather than united as a nation,
Where are you my daughters and sons,
Will you defend me and your siblings?

Will you love and protect one another as a family?
Will you stand as one in good times and in stormy times?
Will you bear the pain of each other as children of one mother?
You are more to each other than what you have or hope to get.
You are all my daughters and sons,
You must defend me and your siblings.

Do not have it all and fight them all,
Do not have it all to the expense of love, unity and peace,
Be willing to give it all, and keep them all,
Better have nothing at all and have them all,
You are all my daughters and sons,
You must defend me and your siblings too.

Will you not pause!?

Will you not pause for a second?
and realize you were born someday,
Will you not pause for a second?
and realize you are alive today,
Will you not pause for a second?
and realize that you have a body that works,
Will you not pause for a second?
and realize that you can talk, hear and see,
Will you not pause for a second?
and realize you can breathe and think,
Will you not pause for a second?
and realize there is someone who loves you,
Will you not pause for a second?
and realize you are unique and there is no one like you,
Will you not pause for a second?
and thank the One who authored your life,
Will you not pause for a second?
and realize none of the things above are charged,
Will you not pause for a second?
and count the many free blessings in life,
Will you not pause for a second?
and list the things you always take for granted,
Will you not pause for a second?
and realize you have not paused yet....

True vessel of honor; Mami wee wanjiarire (Mother you who bore me.)

I deep love to hand me life you went ahead,
Ahead to conceive in the hope that I may be,
For months you carried me in your body in love,
Laboured, sacrificed and suffered that one day I may be,
In deep labour you ushered me into this beautiful world,
Tears of sincere joy flew down your face on witnessing my day 1,
A true vessel of honour and hope you are mummy.

Your tender heart and hands holding me close to your care,
On your chest and arms I sat and slept like a prince,
With your hands, wiping, cleaning, walking and feeding me,
Your face inspiring, smiling, watching and hoping in me,
Your legs carrying, walking, working and figting for me,
Your words teaching, warning, advising and encouraging me,
A true vessel of honour and hope you are mummy.

You taught me to believe in myself, by trusting me in my naivety,
You taught me to pray always, by praying for me ceaselessly,
You taught me to love sincerely, by loving me unconditionally,
You taught me to serve wholeheartedly, by serving me unwaveringly,
You taught me to work with others, by working with me in my inexperience,
You taught me to behave, by disciplining me continually and understandeably,
A true vessel of honour and hope you are mummy.

I cannot afford to give everything back mummy, but my best shall I give,
To keep you growing strong in faith, I will always trust you and pray for you,
To keep you smiling in hope, I will always love and care for you,
To keep you happy and content, I will always value your deeds and prayers,
To keep you praying forever, I will always share my struggles and troubles with you,
From deep within my heart and soul, I will always remain thankful to you,
A true vessel of honour and hope you are mummy.
